Dear fellow students,
the past school year 2020/21 was certainly one of the most challenging in recent decades. We can be proud of having mastered the unexpected hardships well overall. While the year started with conventional classes, we had to adjust to distance learning before the autumn holidays and to shift operation in February.
For this reason, the student council, consisting of Tobias Wolff, David Muigg, and Isabella Plattner, conducted three comprehensive surveys to take appropriate measures in response to the situation. Among other things, the weekly schedule was adjusted based on suggestions from the student community, and a private Discord server was provided for communication purposes.
We succeeded in making everyday school life more pleasant through the acquisition of beanbags, kindly sponsored by the Association of Friends of the APP. A planned e-sports event is also intended to serve the same goal.
The exceptional psychological situation during the COVID pandemic also had to be taken into account at our school. To this end, we sat down individually with all class representatives of the particularly affected upper school and are in intensive contact with the school doctor and the school psychotherapist. The student council will continue to advocate for the psychological relief of students.
Since written certificates are often valued later in life, we have introduced a certificate system to document additional and special achievements. The election of class representatives was made more meaningful, and the student council election was augmented by an open discussion round. For the next school year, the student council has planned the new elective subjects Computer Club and Debate Club. In addition, we have developed a concept for the future vision of the school towards computer science and robotics. Furthermore, the currently sober, neutral walls are to be designed in a lively and colorful way in the future.
With this in mind, we wish you all a relaxing summer and hope for a largely normal school year 2021/22. We thank the principal Mag. Walter Nigg for the good cooperation and wish the high school graduates all the best for the future.
Your Head Boy
Tobias A. Wolff
